Department of Health awarded the “Outreach Dental Care Programme for the Elderly” to Project Concern Hong Kong since 2014.  The aim of this programme is to provide a free preventive dental care service to those elders in day care centres and residential care homes.  Project Concern assigns one outreach dental team to provide free dental care services to those service users in Shamshuipo and Tung Chung.  The target beneficiaries are as follows:

  • Holder of valid Hong Kong Identity Card, and residing in the following homes licensed by the Social Welfare Deparment
    • Residential Care Homes, or
    • Nursing Homes, or
    • Care and Attention Homes for the Aged Blind
  • Aged 60 or above and using services of Day Care Centre / Units for the Elderly listed by the Social Welfare Department

An outreach dental team will deploy to provide the following free services:

  • On-site oral checkup for the elders
  • On-site oral care training and oral health education activities such as seminars/talks, etc for elders, their family members and caregivers
  • If the elder is considered suitable for further curative dental treatment by dentist of the outreach team, treatment will be provided either on site or the elder will be transferred to a dental clinic for further dental treatment.

Apart from the above preventive dental care to the elders, an oral health education will also provide to the caregivers and nurses in day care centres and residential care homes.  For details of this programme, please contact us at 2776 9081.
